A beautiful vintage 18ct gold sapphire and diamond ring. Fully hallmarked in London, 1975 and with the maker’s mark “C+F” for Cropp and Farr.
 
Cropp and Farr were founded in London in 1917 and are well known for their excellent craftmanship and high quality gemstones. The company ceased manufacturing some years ago and their pieces are highly regarded.
 
This gorgeous ring features an inky blue sapphire at the centre that weighs approximately 0.50ct. It is flanked by two white, bright diamonds that are approx. 0.15ct each. I have tried to photograph the ring in different lights to demonstrate the natural colour of the sapphire. It can appear dark in low light but radiates a beautiful deep velvet blue in direct light.
 
It’s in very condition. There was a worn down claw on one of the diamonds so I have had this professionally restored and all the claws have been checked over to ensure the stones are fully secure. The shank shows only very slight thinning at the back, coming up to its 40th birthday and is hardly noticeable. The sapphire has a few tiny nicks around the table facet edges and around the girdle, visible under magnification and not when worn. The ring has been professionally cleaned and polished.
