A really beautiful Victorian Etruscan revival banded agate locket. The cabochon banded agate is surrounded by a gorgeous and delicate 15ct gold bead and rope work frame with a glass locket back and on a 9ct gold chain (not original to the locket but likely Victorian too). The agate has been cut to be slightly concave on the back allowing a little more space inside the locket and the stone is beautifully tactile.
Circa 1880. Tests as 15ct gold. The frame of the removable locket back is not gold and neither is the clasp of the chain. The chain itself has a cartouche near the clasp stamped “9c” and tests as 9ct gold.
In excellent antique condition with light wear commensurate with age. The locket back removes easily but also closes firmly and securely.

Chain length: 17” / 43cm
Chain width: 2.7mm
