Originally made as a tourist souvenir, this gorgeous little owl is made from a rare substance called Bog Oak. Bog Oak is wood from an oak tree that has been buried and preserved in a peat bog for thousands of years and is in the early stages of fossilisation.
He holds a little surprise in the form of a Stanhope. if you peer through one of the little holes in his body towards light, little postcard pictures of Ballycastle, Northern Ireland appear. A lovely souvenir! This is very difficult to capture through a camera lens, but I’ve tried my best!
His eyes are on wires which are threaded through to the back. One is a little wobbly (although secure) but could be fixed with a little glue if desired. No visible chips or damage. His fittings are in base metal.
