Dating from the late Georgian to early Victorian era, c.1830 - 1840, this beautiful amethyst and seed pearl pendant looks to have been originally a lace pin or brooch looking at the back where the fitting would have been. A pendant bale has been added to the top (not by me).
The gorgeous amethysts are foil backed which produces flashes of pink through the deep purple. The stones vary slightly in colour/saturation. The gold tests as at least 9ct gold.
It is in very good condition for its almost 200 year age. The stones have tiny bites visible under magnification, the stone at six o’clock has a visible scratch - please see photos. The pearls and gold have some light age-related wear. I have tried to show the pendant in different lights in the photos.
Measures (excluding bale): 2.5cm x 2.25cm approx.
Weight: 4.9g
Please note: the chain and boxes in the photographs are for display purposes only and not included in the sale. If you would like a chain added, please message for a quote.
