A stunning early twentieth century gold garnet bangle made by Andreas Daub, a renowned German jeweller (established in 1872).
The tongue of the clasp is stamped 333 and “A*D”, Andreas Daub’s maker’s mark. 333 equates to a fineness of 8ct gold, often referred to as “garnet gold”.
I have tried in the photographs to show the garnets in different light - they glow when the light hits them but look darker in shade.
In very good condition for its age. The bangle is hollow, as you’d expect. There is one small shallow indentation on the inside of the bangle at the front - hardly noticeable and not noticeable when worn. The garnets are in excellent condition - a few ruby nibbles to girdle edges, visible only under magnification. Light wear to the gold, commensurate with age.
Inner circumference: 7” / 17.8cm approx
Garnet cluster width: 1.5cm
Garnet cluster length: just under 6cm
Width of bangle excluding the applied garnet cluster: 6mm all the way round
Weight: 15.1g
